About this release
We remember vividly when Jason Wojcechowskyj contacted us in 2022 to tell us that he stumbled upon a pretty unknown domaine during his trip in France, which we should taste. Immediately, if possible!
After chatting with Paul Talon from Domaine de Marquestau we visited the first time with the Grape of the Art team in October 2022 to taste for ourselves 🙂 Same as Jason, we had an amazing experience and took many samples home with us to taste in Stuttgart.
This will be forever one of the most magical stories for us when it comes to Armagnac: Jason saw a bottle of Marquestau in a restaurant by accident, liked it, managed to visit the domaine on short notice, had a fantastic time with Paul and shared the story in the community!
Originally, we planned to do this collaboration with Marquestau and Grape of the Art much sooner. Due to the unique character of the Armagnac, it took us 3 rounds of samples, until we found our magic cask, which immediately enchanted all of the GotA team. The other samples were great to stellar, but as you can imagine, our taste does not always match. So we had a lot of 2 vs 2 discussions, but in the end it was more than worth it, to search a bit longer!
A huge thank you to Paul and Marquestau for their patience and allowing us back in the cellar a 2nd and 3rd time to find “our cask”!
To make it a special release, we’ve decided to make it the official Armagnac Festival release, with the traditional black label.
